Version control is an essential part of modern software development 🛠️. In this workshop, we discovered how Git can be used to record changes, recover earlier versions, and keep projects organised 🗃️. We also explored GitHub as a platform for sharing code, working with branches, and collaborating smoothly with others 🐙.

UI/UX with Figma

About UI/UX with Figma

In this hands-on session, participants explored the world of UI/UX design with Figma 🎨 We learnt how to navigate the interface, create reusable components, and prototype interactive screens. We also touched on using community assets, adding scroll effects, and designing mobile-friendly layouts 📱.

About Flutter I

Building a mobile app starts with understanding its building blocks 📱✨. As the first of a two part series, we explored Flutter's widget system, learning how to structure interfaces, manage state, and use common widgets like buttons, images, text fields, and lists. By the end, we gained the foundation to create dynamic, interactive UIs with Flutter.

About Flutter II

Building a mobile app starts with understanding its building blocks 📱✨. As the second of a two part series, we learnt how to implement Material 3 themes, navigate between pages with the Navigator, and troubleshoot common runtime issues using Flutter DevTools and the debugger. By the end, we were able to create polished, functional apps with optimal performance across devices.

In this session, we built our own IoT system using Arduino (ESP32) and MQTT, learnt how devices communicate, sense their environment, and respond in real time.

FlutterFlow

About FlutterFlow

No-code development meets practical app design 🚀📱! In collaboration with Engineering Interest Group's Ideatecomm social hackathon, we built a dashboard app with live weather updates, and news headlines. Along the way, we explored FlutterFlow's page navigation, widget trees, actions, and API integration, while connecting Firestore for dynamic data retrieval.

About C++

Every great program starts with a solid foundation in a powerful language 💻. In this workshop, we dived into the fundamentals of C++, covering basic syntax, variables, loops, and functions before moving on to Object-Oriented Programming with classes and inheritance. We put our skills to the test by building a text-based fighter game from scratch ⚔️!

We explored the world of web development with Django 🌐, learning how the web works under the hood with HTTP, MVC architecture, and database migrations. Along the way, we built our own web app from scratch, working with models, views, and URL routing 🛠️.

About React

Modern web development starts with mastering the right tools 🚀. In this session, we got hands-on with React.js and Tailwind CSS, learning how components, state, and styling come together to build modern web interfaces. We started with a clicker app to grasp the basics, then built our very own portfolio website from scratch 💻✨!

About Agentic AI

In this workshop, we explored the world of Agentic AI, learning how autonomous agents can automate everyday tasks. From understanding AI workflows to building our own task reminder agent using tools like n8n and Telegram, we got hands-on with practical AI that students can apply to their daily lives 🚀.

Computer Vision

About Computer Vision

We explored the world of Computer Vision and Machine Learning 🤖, learning how machines see and understand images. From training models with Teachable Machine to building our own OpenCV project in Python 🐍, we got hands-on with image processing, model evaluation, and real-world applications like face detection 👁️.

Kubernetes

About Kubernetes

Taking your apps from local to production starts with containers ☸️. We learnt how to containerise and deploy applications with Docker and K8s, from writing Dockerfiles and building images to deploying pods, services, and managing clusters with kubectl and minikube. We also explored Helm for package management and Sealed Secrets for managing sensitive data securely 🔐.

SIG Fiesta

About SIG Fiesta

At SIG Fiesta, we showcased some of the exciting projects our members built, from a remote-controlled robotics car 🚗💨, to an interactive 3D website 🌐, and even a computer vision space invader game 👾 controlled by hand gestures. Visitors got to experience first-hand the creativity and technical skills that Overflowers bring to life through hackathons, workshops, and showcases.

HackIT 2025

About HackIT 2025

🚀 HackIT brought student ideas to life! Together with EIG and AISIG, Overflow hosted a school-wide hackathon where teams of up to 4 took on challenges in AI, sustainability, and digital wellbeing 🌏💡. Over the months, participants joined workshops, milestone checks, and consultations before pitching their creations at the big finale on 15 September. With snacks 🍪, games 🎲, and mystery tech prizes 🎁 up for grabs, it was an inspiring way to see how everyone's ideas came to life!
